A Streetcar Named Desire

Produced by FLW Theatre in 2014, this production in the Guild Theatre at the University of Melbourne focused on Blanche and Stella, legitimating and celebrating their powerful and unpredictable expressions of female sexuality, and condemning the violent repression of these forces that drives Tennessee Williams' play.

This production was nominated for Production of the Year in the 2014 Union House Theatre Awards.

“Director Joanna Pidcock has adopted a modern sensibility when directing this work. Her approach is to play the action as real as possible. It is never over-acted or stagey. With so many larger than life characters, it would be easy to make the piece melodramatic. Thankfully, the audience is taken on the emotional journey of the piece, thanks to Pidcock's thoughtful guidance.”
