It’s been a strange year! While theatre in the UK has been on hold, and a number of my projects postponed, I’ve had some non-theatrical writing published around and about:
For Prospect Magazine, I wrote about anchorites, being a recluse, and why the early days of lockdown might be a good time to consider a conversation between Margery Kempe and Julian of Norwich.
For Other/Conversations, I wrote about Netflix’s Sex Education and the current state of sex ed in schools and then about the new Emma adaptation, speech acts, and what it might look like inside a regency glossier.
I had the joy of speaking to performance artist Ron Athey for King Kong Garcon, and the interview ‘Body of Work’ is currently on the cover of the November print issue.
Finally, I wrote this personal essay about birdwatching and cottagecore for Florets, reflecting on a lockdown spent in Norfolk.
